LeBron James might be one of the oldest players in the league but he is still one of the most lethal ones as well. James’ longevity continues to baffle experts as he has led the Lakers to a 19-21 record after starting 2-10 and losing Anthony Davis prior to their current 5-game winning streak.
Davis got injured during the Lakers’ win over the Denver Nuggets on December 16, a game that saw LeBron help the Lakers finish the job in AD’s absence. During that battle, LBJ had an exchange with Aaron Gordon after a possession where AG was guarding LeBron.
James looked over at AG and told him that his strength may work against every other forward in the NBA but it won’t work against him. Being dismissed by LeBron over your biggest advantage on the court in most instances has to be demoralizing.
Gordon still had a solid 17-point game that night but couldn’t lead the Nuggets to a win. The teams will face each other again tomorrow night, so AG might see this clip floating around and try to prove to LeBron James that he isn’t someone to be messed with.
LeBron James Leading A Miraculous Turnaround In LA
The Lakers still have the supporting cast that was incessantly mocked by NBA fans and media members at the start of the season when they were 2-10. Even with key members of the rotation out with injury, LeBron and Russell Westbrook off the bench have been exemplary leaders for the Lakers.
Dennis Schroder and Thomas Bryant are playing their best basketball of the season while even players like Patrick Beverley have improved. The vibes in LA seem much better than during their torturous season last year. Even though LeBron is still agitating for trades to be made, he’s carrying this current supporting cast much further than people had expected.
They are 19-21, 2 games behind a top-6 seed in the West, even though they are 11th right now.
