Facundo Pellistri made his Manchester United debut this week to a combination of both delight and relief.
It was a moment the Uruguayan had been waiting for since his 2020 switch from Penarol.
The former Alaves loanee was praised by manager Erik ten Hag after his substitute display against Charlton Athletic.
Pellistri needed only five minutes to provide an assist, setting up a goal for in-form teammate Marcus Rashford.

Pellistri’s big moment was hailed by his teammates, with David de Gea and Lisandro Martinez among those to congratulate him on his breakthrough.
Bruno Fernandes also reached out, making an interesting comment, that Pellistri deserved to make his debut ‘a long time ago’.
This isn’t necessarily Fernandes being critical of any of the managers who have passed on Pellistri until now, it’s just his view that the youngster is talented enough to contribute to the first team.
Considering he has already made his international debut for Uruguay, starring at the World Cup, it was an oddity that he hadn’t featured for United’s first team.
Five minutes in the cup certainly wasn’t much, but it was enough to finally get his Manchester United career up and running.
Decisions are still to be made whether a loan lies ahead for Pellistri, or he should stay with the first team, but his potential is clear to see.
