Netflix came out with Wednesday, starring Jenna Ortega, on November 23, 2022, and since then, fans of the entertainment industry cannot stop talking about it. Wednesday Addams made a place for herself in everyone’s hearts the moment she attacked the high schoolers with piranhas. Boss lady move, right?
A still from Wednesday (2022)
Apart from the actors’ talents and the intriguing storyline, there was one other aspect of the spinoff series that was trending heavily on the Internet. Yep, you’ve guessed it right – the Goo Goo Muck dance. While Jenna Ortega practiced a lot for it, she is having some regrets about the efforts she put into the dance. The regrets of what she could’ve done more are so much that they keep her awake through the night!

If while watching the show you thought the famous dance couldn’t have been better, Jenna Ortega would beg to differ. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, she stated that her dance at the Rave’N Dance keeps her up at night. This is because, being the perfectionist Ortega is, she cannot help herself but think about the things she could’ve done more for the dance. However, she is certainly grateful for all the love the dance got through recreation on social media.
“Even that I still can’t believe, because it was kind of – some of the moves I had planned, some of it was improved. That was one of the scenes that I stay awake at night thinking about because I thought there was so much that I should’ve done and could’ve done, so the fact that anyone has shown any bit of appreciation or have even tried it themselves is kind of — it’s not fathomable to me.”
The credit for the dance being so popular on social media has to go to Ortega herself, at least a part of it. Not only did she perform all the steps in a very Wednesday way, but she also choreographed the dance. Footage from the clubs in the 80s was her biggest inspiration. She also added a dance step from the first Wednesday Addams, Lisa Loring. Artists Lene Lovich and Nina Hagen were on the inspiration board as well.
Despite the dance becoming a TikTok trend, Ortega will never find herself scrolling through the videos as she believes the social media platform is not a healthy place for her to be.

Everything Jenna Ortega Learned for WednesdayJenna Ortega playing the cello in Wednesday
Ortega became a household name literally overnight. But in order to have overnight success, one can’t simply place all their bets on sheer luck. In addition to choreographing the much-loved dance herself, she had to learn a bunch of other skills to perfect her portrayal.
Apart from watching and taking inspiration from the earlier interpretations of the character, she had to learn to speak German, as well as how to play the cello. If that’s not impressive enough, she also learned basic fencing and did a lot of archery. All of this just goes to show that while she could’ve relied on the special effects team and the stunt doubles to do all that for her, she actually took playing the character seriously, and thus all her hard work is now paying off in form of thousands of TikToks and a huge and passionate fanbase.
Ortega certainly is a Jack of all trades! We cannot wait to see more of what she has to offer in the second season of Wednesday, which has been officially confirmed.
Wednesday season one is available to stream on Netflix.
