Numerous Chelsea players will be saved from being chopped from the Champions League roster in favour of Mykhailo Mudryk.
According to the Evening Standard, none of the English signings can be replaced by Mudryk in the European squad due to UEFA’s requirement for four association-trained players.
Chelsea will want to register the Ukrainian international for the competition ahead of their meeting with Borussia Dortmund next month.
However, with 24 players already listed in Graham Potter’s team, one of the current crop may have to be axed to make way for the new recruit.
Another name will have to be removed from the roster as well if Potter is to also include Joao Felix and Benoit Badiashile.
Chelsea will want Mudryk to play in the Champions League
Clubs can call-upon a maximum of 25 players for the tournament, which means one of Mudryk, Felix and Badiashile can be added without displacing one of their teammates.
Yet, to squeeze in the other two does mean a pair will be sacrificed.
Thankfully for the English contingent, their bacon has been saved.
Raheem Sterling and Ben Chilwell will be on board, despite them both being out injured at the moment.

Carney Chukwuemeka could get his chance on the grand stage, following his move from Aston Villa last summer.
But it is Marcus Bettinelli who is probably the most grateful for UEFA’s ruling on British players.
The 30-year-old has been surplus to requirements since being signed as free-agent in 2021.
He’s played just once competitively for Chelsea, the FA Cup victory over Chesterfield just over 12 months ago.

Bettinelli has been on the bench for every Champions League game this term, playing understudy to Kepa Arrizabalaga and Edouard Mendy.
Yet, with Mendy absent, the experienced goalkeeper has a slightly better chance at getting his gloves on European football.
