The “Marca” newspaper revealed that Real Madrid’s play-maker, Croatian international Luka Modric, had rejected an offer from Al-Nasr Saudi Arabia to join Portuguese legend Cristiano Ronaldo, who had recently moved to Al-Alamy.
The Spanish newspaper confirmed that Saudi Arabia wants to raise football to the ranks of the global elite and increase viewership by attracting top stars. So after signing with Ronaldo, Al- Nasr seeks to include Modric and Spanish defender Sergio Ramos from Paris Saint-Germain.
Marca said that Modric, 37, wants to stay for at least another season at Real Madrid before considering playing for another club.
The Croatian star will postpone the tempting offers he received from Saudi Arabia and the United States, given his desire to continue with the Royal Club.
The newspaper added, “Modric proved in the 2022 World Cup that he still has all the capabilities (despite his old age), which is something he shows every time he wears a Real Madrid shirt, and that was evident on December 30 in Real Madrid’s last match against Real Valladolid.”
