Prime Video’s Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan Season 3 knocks Netflix’s record-breaking show Wednesday off the top of Nielsen’s streaming rankings.
After Wednesday held firm at the top of the streaming series rankings, Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan knocked it out of the lead as Season 3 of the thriller series keeps gathering momentum.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Jack Ryan‘s newest season, which premiered on Dec. 21, 2022, ended Wednesday’s four-week reign at the top of Nielsen’s rankings during the holiday season. The Prime Video show led all series for the Dec. 19-25 window with 1.9 billion viewing minutes. That figure edged out Netflix’s Wednesday, based on The Addams Family’s titular morbid daughter, which boasted 1.8 billion viewing minutes throughout the week leading up to Christmas.
When including films, only Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery topped Jack Ryan among all titles for the window, netting 2.23 billion viewing minutes since its Dec. 23, 2022 debut on Netflix. Meanwhile, comedy-drama The Best Man: The Final Chapters landed Peacock a top 10 place as the NBCUniversal streaming service’s first original series to do so. Nielsen’s streaming series rankings only include viewing on television sets while excluding viewership on mobile devices and laptops.
Jack Ryan is a political action-thriller series based on various characters from Tom Clancy’s “Ryanverse,” a franchise created by the bestselling author. Clancy’s Jack Ryan novels serve as source material for the series, including such books as The Hunt for Red October, Patriot Games and Debt of Honor. The show, created by Nash Bridges creator Carlton Cuse and Dark Winds‘ Graham Roland, premiered in August 2018 following five unrelated film installments of the Jack Ryan franchise from 1990 to 2014.
