Riyadh XI player Saud Abdullah Salem Abdulhamid named both Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi as the GOAT within the space of 20 minutes.
Ronaldo and Messi lined up against each other for the 37th and probably the last time as the Riyadh XI took on Paris Saint Germain in a mid-season friendly match.
The match against PSG was Ronaldo’s first appearance since he made his big-money move to the Middle East earlier in the month.
To the delight of the packed crowd, both Ronaldo and Messi managed to get themselves on the scoresheet but it was PSG who came away victorious with a thrilling 5-4 win.
Riyadh XI player Abdulhamid, who plays for Saudi Arabian club Al Hilal drew attention after he named Ronaldo the greatest of all time after the final whistle but 20 minutes later, called Messi the GOAT too.
Although many fans have their own GOAT choice, it is clear that Abdullhamid can’t choose between the two legends of the game and wants to appreciate both.
Fans were quick to react to Abdullhamid’s tweets.
One said: “Just a man appreciating greatness nothing wrong.”
Another tweeted: “He appreciates both. Don’t see anything wrong.”
A third fan added: “It’s not allowed to appreciate the greatest 2 of all time? It’s not Messi vs Ronaldo it’s Messi and Ronaldo.”
Someone else wrote: “Nothing to see here, just a player admiring two best players in the world.”
The GOAT debate has been a constant talking point in the world of football as both Ronaldo and Messi have been battling each other at the top of the game for the majority of their careers.
Instead of siding with one, just enjoy both whilst they are still capable of playing at their best. One thing is for sure, when either one of them retires, it will be a bitterly sad day for not just football, but the whole sporting world.
