How This Brand-New C8 Chevy Corvette Z06 Only Lasted 600 Miles Without Any Problems

YouTuber takes delivery of a brand new Z06 and ends up damaging it before finishing the break-in period.

Since the invention of the first automobile, albeit steam-powered, over 350 years ago society immediately developed what’s known as “automobile folklore.”

From religious statues mounted on the dashboard to celebratory vehicles like wedding cars, none remain more powerful than the new car curse.

Dating back as far as we know, many drivers believe they are “tempting fate” by driving around in a brand new, flawless car. Some drivers will even go as far as personally scratching their newly purchased vehicle in order to erase the false belief that since the car is new, the chances of something awful happening are greater compared to used cars.

Something that automotive YouTuber, SuperSpeedersRob found out the hard way after taking delivery of a brand new 2023 C8 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 with the ultra-limited Z07 package.

Because while some owners are reporting blown engines with less than 50 total miles, something Rob acknowledges in the video, his belief in the new car curse may have gained some clout after he manages to bend both of his passenger-side wheels in his journey home from Detroit.

New Car, New Problems With The Chevy Corvette Z06

After planning to reach the break-in period of about 500 miles thanks to the journey from Detroit to his home in New Jersey, Rob shares that this is the first time in a while that he is actually excited to take delivery of a new car.

After all, the majority of his purchases are directly for his exotic rental car business rather than for personal pleasure.

So when he arrives in Detroit, over nine hours away from home, Rob challenges himself to a mini cannonball run with the hopes of making it back home in eight hours exactly with two gas breaks and a lunch stop — which certainly means breaking in the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 engine the Jeremy Clarkson way, with speed and power.

It wasn’t long before Rob determined the Z06 sports car to be a stinker in the road trip department, but with its track-focused setup, it wasn’t a hard choice to determine — essentially sealing his new car curse fate.

Because if there is one bit of automobile folklore that every gearhead can agree upon, it is the fact that your car knows when you’re speaking negatively about it and will swiftly put you in your place.

Something Rob discovers shortly after when he comes across a sinkhole disguised as a pothole. One that sends him into the air with brute force — and leaves him with a new vibration.

Pricing for the 2023 Corvette Z06 is Officially Announced! Starting MSRP is $106,395 - Corvette: Sales, News & Lifestyle

Arriving in New Jersey five minutes after his self-imposed deadline, Rob gets a chance to inspect the damage, and although the front wheel escaped relatively unharmed, the back wheel now showed a lovely flat spot between the spokes forcing Rob to already send this car to the mechanic.
