Cristiano Ronaldo is building a new life for himself out in Saudi Arabia.
Having failed to secure a move to a Champions League club upon the breakdown of his relationship with Manchester United, Ronaldo has instead decided to make history by signing the most lucrative football contract of all time with Al-Nassr.
Top-class players have gone to play in the Middle East before, but Ronaldo is an entirely different kettle of fish as arguably the greatest footballer to have ever played the game.
How much is Ronaldo earning at Al-Nassr?
And while, yes, he’s obviously not the force he once was, he’s certainly not over the hill either because lest we forget that he was amongst the nominees for the 2022 Ballon d’Or.
So there’s good reason to think that Ronaldo will not only be a trailblazer in moving to Saudi Arabia, but that he’ll also light things up with his performances on the pitch for good measure.
However, with Ronaldo reportedly pocketing an eye-watering £172 million every year, he’ll probably still leave with fond memories of the Gulf nation even in a world where things don’t work out from a footballing perspective.
And although Ronaldo might only be one game into his spell so far, it looks as though he’s both enjoying his financial rewards and paying respect to his new country of residence.
The ultimate Cristiano Ronaldo quiz
What is Ronaldo’s new watch and how much is it worth?
That’s because the five-time Ballon d’Or winner is the proud owner of one of the most luxurious watches we’ve ever seen – and it’s inspired by his historic move to Riyadh.
According to men’s fashion experts Hypebeast, luxury watchmakers Jacob & Co. have created an extraordinary item called the Caviar Flying Tourbillon “Tsavorite” which celebrates Ronaldo’s transfer to Al-Nassr.
The watch is said to be set in over Tsavorite stones – ‘the most expensive of all garnets,’ apparently – as opposed to emeralds with its green appearance paying homage to the primary colour of the Saudi Arabian flag.
Tsavorites are said to be 200 times rarer than emeralds and have a far more spectacular sparkle.
But if that isn’t enough, then the watch also features a 18K white gold 47mm x 15.85mm Caviar case design as well as 216 components, 27 jewels and a 42-hour power reserve to boot.
Ronaldo’s custom-made piece also has an alligator green leather strap to go with it.
And while the luxury item made specifically for Al-Nassr’s new superstar isn’t for sale to the public, Hypebeast estimate that it would retail for a head-spinning $780,000.
Ronaldo has been photographed wearing the timepiece on multiple occasions around the formalities of his Al-Nassr move and will no doubt treasure it as a rather flashy reminder of a brave new step in his unforgettable career.
