Jason Momoa in Aquaman (2018)Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom may mark the end of Jason Momoa as Arthur
The 2023 slate of DC comprises numerous movies involving Shazam! Fury of the Gods, Blue Beetle, The Flash and Aquaman, and the Lost Kingdom, but the future of these characters in the new DCU is uncertain. But among all of them, the most prominent-looking movie seems to be the James Wan-led Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.
James Gunn and Peter Safran have been adamant about scrapping the scattered universe and pulling the plugs from the dying DCEU and forming their new DCU more cohesively. And even though the 2018 Aquaman was the highest-grossing movie in the DCEU, the future of the character after the sequel appears to be unresolved following the change in leadership in DC studios.
And with the recent rumors of Jason Momoa being recast as Lobo moving forward in the new DCU, James Wan’s sequel may mark the end of Jason Momoa’s reign as the King of Atlantis. The sequel will also mark the end of the long-struggling DCEU, which was on a slow spiral of death since BVS.
