Darwin Nunez is making a major change to adapt to life in Liverpool, the Reds striker revealed.
Nunez has endured a mixed start to life on Merseyside since arriving in the summer as part of an initial £70 million deal.
The Uruguay international joined Liverpool on a high, after a stunning 34 goals season in Portugal with Benfica.
Nunez has had an undoubted influence on Jurgen Klopp’s side and netted a reasonable 10 goals in 25 appearances in all competitions.
However, the 23-year-old has also received his fair share of criticism due to his chaotic play style and erratic finishing.
Nunez’s major change
Nunez has settled to life of the pitch with help of a supportive dressing room, particularly its Spanish-speaking contingent.
However, the forward revealed he is learning English, as crucially he does not understand his manager, Klopp.
In an interview with Sky Sports Nunez said: “I think after those first few months of adaption, things began improving.
“I feel at home. I feel happy. When I come in, I look forward to training because, luckily, I have people here who speak Spanish.
“They have supported me really well and they are still supporting me today. That’s what we are here to do. We are a team. If we can help each other, that’s a good thing.
“My teammates who speak Spanish are always translating because I still don’t understand a lot of things,” he smiles again.
“But watch out, because I am taking English classes. I hope that, in a year and a half, minimum, I will be able to understand everything.”
On Klopp, Nunez added: “He doesn’t speak Spanish and I don’t speak English, so we don’t understand each other, but ever since I arrived at Liverpool, he has always given me confidence.”
