With the visitors 2-0 down thanks to two Marcus Rashford goals, Foxes manager Brendan Rodgers brought on Youri Tielemans in place of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.
The Belgian midfielder has been linked with a move to Old Trafford for some time, as well as slew of other Premier League clubs, and is a free agent this summer, with him yet to extend his current deal with Leicester.
And fans watching the substitution flagged a moment that suggests Ten Hag has an affection for the Foxes star.
As Tielemans waited for Dewsbury-Hall to come off, TV footage shows Ten Hag approach him on the touchline.
The midfielder doesn’t make eye contact with the Red Devils boss, but Ten Hag still proceeded to pat him on the back as if to send him on his way as he entered the fray.
“For free in the summer incoming?” one fan responded to the clip of the moment on Twitter.
Meanwhile another supporter said: “Ten Hag cooking for the summer already.”
The Dutchman brought in ex-Tottenham and Brentford midfielder Christian Eriksen in one a free transfer last summer, and Tielemans could follow in his footsteps.
Since arriving at the King Power Stadium in 2019 for a club-record fee of £40 million, Tielemans has gone on to make 186 appearances for the Foxes.
In that time the Belgian has scored 28 times and recorded 25 assists.
