There may be an awkward conversation between Bruno Fernandes and Frenkie de Jong should the Dutch midfielder join Manchester United.
Much like the first leg, the second leg of the Red Devils’ Europa League play-off against Barcelona kicked into life after the break with Fred equalising in the opening moments of the second half.

And Fernandes quite literally kicked further life into the contest as he somewhat unnecessarily booted the ball into the midriff of Barca midfielder De Jong when he was falling over after going in between Antony and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
De Jong’s teammates didn’t take too kindly to Fernandes’ actions, and a melee between both sets of players followed.
After referee Clement Turpin calmed things down the Portuguese was shown a yellow card.
Man United were heavily linked with De Jong in the summer, however, the move never materialised amid a series of complications with the Netherlands international’s contract at the Camp Nou.
Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag has suggested that he may try to sign De Jong again, although the player may have one or two things to say to Fernandes upon arrival.
After the two sides played out an enthralling 2-2 draw in the first leg, Robert Lewandowski put Barca ahead in the tie with a first-half penalty.
