Kevin Durant is one of the most versatile players in the entire league. His skill set allows him to play in a variety of situations, and he has played well on an individual level for every team he’s been on.
Recently, NBA analyst Colin Cowherd compared Kevin Durant to NFL quarterback Patrick Mahomes, who recently won the Super Bowl. Cowherd claimed that Kevin Durant works with a variety of players, similar to the quarterback.
“Kevin Durant works with anti-vaxxers, NBA basketball players afraid to shoot,” Colin Cowherd claimed. “He got Russell Westbrook to a Finals, nobody works with Westbrook! He works with rigid guys, limited guys, old guys, new guys… Don’t put 98% of the players in NBA history, now and forever in Kevin Durant’s class. He is Mahomes. It just doesn’t matter. Coordinator, tight end, wide receiver.”
There is no doubt that this is a solid comparison from Colin Cowherd. Both players are all-time greats in their sports and have the ability to make an impact no matter the players that surround them.
This season, Kevin Durant is averaging 29.7 PPG, 6.7 RPG, and 5.3 APG while shooting 37.6% from the 3PT range. He has an opportunity to win the championship with the Phoenix Suns this year, and many people consider them the favorites in the Western Conference.
The Phoenix Suns Have Enough To Win It All
There is no doubt that the Phoenix Suns have the talent to win it all this season. They are definitely among the best teams in the Western Conference. Recently, Devin Booker claimed that the Suns have the ability to win a championship with Kevin Durant.
“100%. We kind of have the same approach,” Booker said when asked if the team has everything in place to win a championship. “Once you have the taste of Finals experience and you have that under your belt, that’s what you want. We have one goal. We know it’s not going to be easy to get there, but we feel we have the talent, we have the mindset.”
It will be interesting to see how the Phoenix Suns will actually do when they get to the playoffs. Though they will have their talent level on their side, their relative lack of time to develop chemistry and cohesion may be a problem.
Hopefully, we do see the Phoenix Suns get far this year. They will also have an opportunity to win the championship in the next few seasons as well, and we’ll see what happens in the future.
