Odell Beckham Jr came very close to signing a deal with the Cowboys last season but could not get back from injury with the team not convinced in giving the wideout a long-term contract.
The Dallas Cowboys could finally be about to land the man they have hoped to sign for months after holding talks with Odell Beckham Jr, talks that were reportedly ‘positive’.
The two parties held talks for multiple weeks last season, with Beckham even travelling to the Cowboys facilities to discuss a potential deal. But no move would ever materialise, with Beckham not able to prove his fitness to play in the 2022 season – as he hoped to sign a long-term deal.
Beckham has now not played for over a year after sitting out the 2022 season following an ACL tear in the previous Super Bowl. But now, Beckham has proved to teams that he is back to full health after working out in front of a dozen teams last week.
After the workout, interest in the 30-year-old has been high, and owner Jerry Jones might have already been tempted to bring Beckham Jr in.
The Score has reported that the Cowboys have held positive discussions with Beckham, with the player looking to get a multi-year deal. The report adds that Dallas ‘would like to make it work’.
As well as the Cowboys, a number of teams are said to be interested – including the Buffalo Bills, Baltimore Ravens and New York Giants. The Giants were who Beckham spent the first five years of his career with, before struggling with the Cleveland Browns.
Beckham has suffered two ACL tears in the last four years, but is reportedly asking for as much as $20million per season in a multi-year contract – which he could receive in the booming wide receiver market.
Another team to watch on Beckham, will be the New York Jets. The team are expected to trade for Aaron Rodgers, who reportedly named Beckham as a receiver he’d like to see the team sign.
The Cowboys have opened up cap space in the last few days, after re-working a number of players’ deals, including left tackle Tyron Smith.
