Following the release of Shazam! Fury of Gods, which isn’t being well received at the box office, Zachary Levi has been pretty outspoken about the possible factors that resulted in the movie’s failure. The actor has previously pointed out several reasons, involving the toxic portion of the DC fandom and WB’s poor marketing for the sequel’s failure.
However, these aren’t the only issues that the actor has pressed over the movie’s failure at the box office. Levi further went on to accuse the studios of not letting them implement their original plans for the mid-credit scene.

Since the release of the Shazam! sequel, Zachary Levi has been pretty transparent with his fans about the troublesome production that led to the inclusion of Jennifer Holland in the mid-credit scene. During his live Instagram session, Levi addressed the matter and clarified that James Gunn’s wife Jennifer Holland, and Steve Agee weren’t the original choices to invite Levi to join the Justice Society of America. He explained that Hawkman and Cyclone were the initial choices but it was eventually scrapped. He said,
“That was not the original intent. The original intent was to have Hawkman and Cyclone be there inviting me [into the Justice Society]. Walter Hamada, Peter Safran, David Sandberg … we had an awesome scene that would have tied me into the JSA with Hawkman and with Cyclone and we were thwarted.”
The actor also explained that he isn’t blaming anyone for the movie’s poor performance at the box office as he went on to state, “I’m merely coming to the defense of the truth”.

However, it wasn’t the first time when their original plans were thwarted, as Levi further shared that in the first movie, they tried to bring back Henry Cavill’s Superman but weren’t allowed. The actor expressed that they have been doing everything in their power to fight for the fans, even if some of them aren’t fond of the actor. He said.
“He wasn’t a headless Superman because we wanted him to be a headless Superman. We were thwarted. All of these hardworking people were thwarted. We were not allowed to have that happen.”
