LeBron James’ true intentions of suiting up against the Chicago Bulls were revealed ahead of the Los Angeles Lakers’ first of the two games went the Bulls’ way.
Speaking on Bulls Talk, insiders K.C. Johnson, Tony Gill, Jason Goff, and Will Perdue shed light on the idea of James’ return: “LeBron wants to scorch this team to send a very clear message about who he thinks is the best player of all time.”
Further elaborating on the idea of his return, it was about proving a point to his GOAT comparison to Michael Jordan, and the greatness he is chasing the latter and sending a clear message to who is regarded as the best player of all time.
James came off the bench in the Lakers’ 118-108 blowout loss to the Bulls. He played for 30 minutes and propped up 19 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 assists. But it wasn’t enough to take the side across. Chicago rode on Zach LaVine’s 32-point display to take the first of the two-game series.
LeBron James Believes The Los Angeles Lakers Can Be A Top Six Seed
LeBron James’ return surely bolsters the Lakers, even if it did see them go down to the Bulls on Sunday. And on his part, the veteran was optimistic about LA’s chances and even went as far as saying they could finish sixth seed by the end of the regular season.
Speaking to the media in the aftermath of the loss, “We go 8-5, and now we’re sitting at a chance to be able to, ‘Hell with play-in, we actually can be a top-six seed,’ that definitely changed my mindset on me coming back and trying to be a part of this,” James said.
“I don’t wanna say changed my mindset, it just enhanced what I was trying to do as far as my workouts and treatment went.”
The Lakers are placed 10th in the West with a 37-38 record, and they play the Bulls again on Wednesday. Only time will tell if James can indeed beat them with a scintillating outing and prove a point that he was gunning for the GOAT status.
