Fans have still not gotten over the exit of Henry Cavill from the DC franchise. They still want him to return as the red-capped superhero but the new CEO and Chairman have different plans instead. Cavill’s Superman debuted in the year 2013 with Man Of Steel. The film was helmed by fan-favorite filmmaker Zack Snyder.
From there onwards, the kryptonite has appeared in several DC films like Batman V. Superman: Dawn Of Justice, Justice League, and the recent Snyder Cut. For a long, Fans have been waiting for a second sequel to Man Of Steel and even they almost got it when Cavill announced his return. It didn’t take time for this news to transform into a bad one.

Currently, James Gunn has become the most hated man amongst SnyderVerse fans. As he didn’t cast the Sand Castle actor in the new chapter of DC. The Super filmmaker is an active Twitter user and often gives updates about his films and DC. Recently he sparked anger amongst fans as he tweeted about Henry Cavill’s Superman still existing. He replied to a fan who tweeted about missing Henry Cavill by saying, “He still exists”.
Fans are furious after hearing this comment from Gunn as they consider that he was the one who fired Cavill. The comment section of Gunn’s reply was filled with fans blaming him for not letting the Man of Steel legacy continue. Here are a few of the fan reactions below:

Did James Gunn Fire Henry Cavill?

Warner Bros is currently restructuring its business and its top priority remains DC studios. Its current focus is on giving out quality blockbusters. That’s the reason many potential films like Batgirl were scrapped. After the exit of Walter Hamda, former President of DCEU studios, now James Gunn and Peter Safran have taken over the lead. The Guardians of the Galaxy director has already announced Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters in a recent special presentation.
Henry Cavill as Superman
The slate also includes a Superman: Legacy movie, but Henry Cavill won’t be a part of it. Gunn looks forward to bringing in a young Superman for this movie. According to him, Henry Cavill’s return was only limited to a Black Adam cameo and he never got cast by him. Gunn claims he never fired Henry Cavill and many assumptions are being made on the topic.
“A lot of people made assumptions that weren’t true, but for me, it’s about who do I want to cast as Superman and who do the filmmakers want to cast. For me, for this story, it isn’t Henry. I like Henry. He’s a great guy. I think he’s gotten dicked around by a lot of people, including former regimes of this company. But this Superman isn’t Henry for a number of reasons.”
But, certainly, the chances of the Former The Witcher actor returning to the DCEU are quite less. It would be great to see who else will be cast as the new Superman in the new film which will make its debut in 2025.
