Kevin Durant sounds off on his beef with Hall of Famer Charles Barkley ahead of the first-round series against LA Clippers.
When Phoenix Suns’ current face, Kevin Durant, got asked about the message he would want to pass to the former great of the franchise – Charles Barkley, the two-time NBA Champion confessed about how he wouldn’t have anything to say to the Hall of Famer as their relationship is too far gone. Having continuously exchanged blows, KD urged how he won’t sit next to the Inside on NBA host in a cryptic manner.
Durant said:
“We both played ball, both played in the NBA, and both are ‘superstar’ caliber players. So, I’m sure we can relate to a lot of things. We’ve accomplished and experienced the same things in this league. I wouldn’t say we’re not on the same page. We may disagree on some stuff but if you watch TNT, those guys disagree every day. But we grew up as ball players and went through the journey as ball players so I would say we’re on the same page already but I probably wouldn’t sit down with Charles (Barkley).”
Kevin Durant is desperately trying to chase his third championship, and what better way to do so than by bringing the first-ever silverware to Phoenix? This will surely be a great way to earn Barkley’s respect.
Charles wanted the Phoenix Suns to acquire Kevin Durant
Despite making bold claims on how Durant was nothing more than a ‘bus rider’ during his three-year stint with Golden State Warriors, the 1992-93 MVP was adamant in Phoenix Suns going all out to acquire KD from the Brooklyn Nets.
Revealing how the franchise asked him for a piece of advice while wanting to trade Durant, Chuck previously mentioned on the Bill Simmons podcast:
“You know it’s so funny living in Phoenix, these idiots, like calling me every day saying like, ‘What do you think?’ I say, ‘What do you mean? What do I think?’ They said, ‘Well, they want a lot.’ I said, ‘Do they want (Devin) Booker and Chris Paul?’ They’re like, ‘No, they don’t want them.’ I say, ‘Well, give it to ’em then!’ Chris Paul, KD, and Booker? We’re good!”
Barkley thinks Phoenix should have traded for KD. If they kept Booker/CP3 I don’t disagree. Unclear if it was on the table but he seemed confident that it was.pic.twitter.com/V11HaPKlQj

While both these NBA superstars might take a strong stand to voice their opinion, their ultimate objective is to witness Phoenix win a championship. Will Durant be able to do so after being paired alongside some of the best playmakers in today’s time? Remains to be seen as the road for Monty Williams’ team is a challenging one.
KD reveals excitement to make Suns playoff debut
To be precise, KD has played in 155 playoff games in his career – which is the 36th most in NBA history. While plenty has been made of Kevin Durant playing just 8 games played for the Suns this season thanks to two separate injuries, the 13-time All-Star seems to have found the right chemistry alongside Booker and CP3.
Ahead of the first matchup against LA Clippers, Durant said:
“That’s really what playoffs are. – a lot of the stuff, the plays you ran through the regular season, might not be there. Just gotta knuckle down and guard up and play strong on offense and see what happens.”
Who will take the upper hand when Clippers face the Suns on Sunday Night? Will be a highly stacked game to keep our eyes on.
