After completing its first year of observations, NASA’s Exo-planet survey satellite has discovered the closest new habitable exoplanet to Earth.
The “super” Earth discovered by NASA is called GJ 357 d, which is 6.1 times larger than Earth and orbits the dwarf star GJ 357 in the constellation Hydra. In particular, this is the closest Earth-like planet to us when it is only 31 light years away from the solar system.

With a dense atmosphere, the planet GJ 357 d can maintain liquid water on the surface. The “Super” Earth has a temperature of -64 degrees Celsius but could be warmer thanks to a thick atmosphere that helps to escape from freezing completely. Therefore, this planet can sustain life.
