Martolod is a tiny house creation from French company Baluchon. This beautiful red cedar and black aluminum tiny house was created for Guillaume, who lives year-round in Brittany. This sea lover’s dream was to have a functional tiny home that subtly incorporated his passion for the sea. The resultant home was spectacular.
Martolod has two-tone cladding in red cedar with black aluminum. The striking contrast is tied together with a marine anchor, a planter at the entry, and a small chimney.
PinUpon entering through the front door, you’re greeted to a light wood living room area with contrasting blue features. As small as this tiny home looks, it’s incredibly spacious on the inside. It has a small storage mezzanine, a comfortable sofa in the lounge area, and complete functionality.
PinThe compartment on the right of the wood storage area is an Argicru clay wine locker that allows the wine to age with little to no temperature fluctuations. PinAs soon as you enter through the door, you’re greeted with a sleek blue, innovative storage unit. It has a wood-burning stove and a basket for storing firewood. PinWinter chills need never be a problem in Martolod with this gorgeous wood stove. It’s fitted with a fan to push warmth to all parts of the house. PinDining, studying, and work are all taken care of in the dining part of the home. Here, there’s a folding table that has space for up to three people to dine comfortably. A large window also lets in plenty of light, while the light wood interior adds to the lightness of the room. PinThe kitchen is simple yet functional. It consists of two cabinet sections facing each other with a door in between.PinThe owner has everything he needs to cook up a storm, including a three-burner gas hob, oven, and electric hot water tank.
PinThe sink is quite generous, given that this can often be lacking in a tiny house. The refrigerator may be small, but it tucks away neatly under the cabinetry.PinBeautiful wood works in harmony with blue cabinetry and gold handles. The kitchen cabinetry doubles as the staircase that leads to the bedroom.
PinThe bedroom doesn’t have a door, and it’s easily accessible via the storage steps.PinThe bedroom nook is surprisingly spacious and light. Windows are present on both sides, and there’s a double bed with two small night tables.
PinA strong wood theme is present in the bathroom, with wood paneling on the walls and wood flooring and ceiling. There is also a dry toilet with a chip compartment, stainless steel bucket, and wood lid.
PinThe shower in this tiny home is not much different from one in a standard house. It’s 80 x 80cm with glass doors. The bathroom sits adjacent to the kitchen.
