Dwayne Johnson with Vin Diesel
The Fast and The Furious film franchise is finally going to release its last installment, Fast 11, in December. Over the years, the legendary action/adventure film series has brought many popular faces to the fold. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is probably one of the most bankable actors in the F&F franchise, alongside Vin Diesel. Johnson joined the franchise in its fifth installment but left after Fast 8. Now that the film series is ready for its last ride into the sunset, fans are wondering if the movie will feature Dwayne Johnson.
The Rock left the F&F project due to his strained relationship with Vin Diesel. The friction between the co-actors got so real that Johnson publicly snubbed Vin Diesel’s offer to squash the beef. In addition, Johnson also refused to return to Fast 10. That said, Will Dwayne Johnson agree to return for the film’s final part?
Will Dwayne Johnson be cast in Fast and Furious 11?
It appears that The Rock and Vin Diesel have ironed out their differences. Dwayne Johnson will indeed be featured in Fast 11. In fact, Dwayne Johnson needed to return to Universal Pictures following his split from James Gunn’s DCU. Johnson left DCU after his Black Adam did not do very well in the theaters.
The WWE icon had a vision of reinventing the DC Universe and having it revolve around the character of Black Adam. Eventually, Black Adam and Superman (Henry Cavill) would have a showdown. However, Johnson’s conflict with DC led The Rock into quitting the franchise.
With F&F reaching its final stage, Dwayne Johnson is confirmed to return as Luke Hobbs. The movie has already been in its development stage for a while. In addition, Henry Cavill is reportedly going to be cast in the film.
Much like Dwayne Johnson, Caville is no longer tied to DC as Superman. The duo sharing the space in F&F could possibly materialize their skirmish on screen. Fast 11 is set to be released later this year in late December.
The Wrestler turned Actor made a whopping $20M from the F&F spinoff!
After refusing to be cast in Fast 9, Dwayne Johnson was featured in the franchise’s spinoff- Fast & Furious: Hobbs & Shaw. Johnson rubbed shoulders with other bankable names such as Jason Statham and Idris Elba. But The Rock made almost the same as Statham and Elba combined.
According to reports, Dwayne Johnson made $20M from the spinoff, while Staham and Elba made $13M and $8M respectively.
Universal Pictures has already started preparing for F&F’s future spinoffs. So, fans may see more from Dwayne Johnson in the spinoff projects. It makes sense that Dwayne is being brought back to Fast 11 as the film series draws closer to its end.
