After superstar Kevin Durant was traded to the Phoenix Suns, many predicted that he and Devin Booker would be able to win at least one championship during their time together. They are both complete players offensively, but one area that both excel at is scoring the basketball.
After the duo combined for 86 points in Game 3, Denver Nuggets superstar Nikola Jokic claimed that the duo are the “two best scorers” in the NBA currently, praising their ability to make tough shots even over double teams.
“We know who we need to stop, but they’re talented players,” Nikola Jokic said per Anthony Riccobono of ClutchPoints. “They’re the problem. I will say they’re the two best scorers probably in the league right now, who can create a shot and who teams can send double-teams, send another body and they can still go and make tough shots.”
There’s no doubt that the Suns’ shotmaking with Kevin Durant and Devin Booker is simply next level. Booker is averaging an astounding 36.9 PPG, while Durant is putting up 29.3 PPG. They clearly make things tough on opposing defenses, and it is up to the Nuggets to figure out a way to stop them if they are to win their series against the Suns.
Kevin Durant Had Huge Praise For Devin Booker Following Star’s 47-Point Performance
Without Devin Booker’s 47 points, the Phoenix Suns wouldn’t have had a chance to win Game 3, and there is a possibility they would have been swept if not for that performance. After the game, Kevin Durant praised Booker for being a “leader” for the team, noting that they “rally around him”.
“Book just, I can’t say enough about Book, like I’m at a loss for words,” Durant said. “Just how he approaches the game, how he’s just a leader of this team, this organization. How he brings it every single day, and we just follow his imprint. And, we rally around him, and tonight was one of those nights.”
It is fair to say that Devin Booker has been the Phoenix Suns’ best player in the postseason, and we’ll see if that continues. While Kevin Durant is traditionally viewed as better than Booker, that could end up changing after this playoff run from the emerging superstar. Some even believe that he is the closest player to Kobe Bryant today.
It will be interesting to see if the Phoenix Suns end up evening the series 2-2 after Game 4. It is clear that they have a much better chance of winning the series now, and we’ll see what happens in the future.
