Welsh club looking to build on their promotion to the Football League
Wrexham AFC were a relatively unknown team until recently. That is until the actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, co-owners of the Welsh club, who have just been promoted to League Two, just three steps below the Premier League, the club’s main objective, came on the scene.
This promotion has made the team attractive to sign players, however, in their first attempt they have failed to convince Gareth Bale to sign for the Welsh club.
However, Hollywood actors are certainly attracted to Wrexham AFC, with Ryan Reynolds the main attraction. One of the actors to fall for his charm has been Natalie Portman.
The renowned actor has announced a challenge for Reynolds and his team in a conversation with Entertainment Tonight.
“I was lucky enough to speak to Ryan about his foray, it’s very inspiring what he’s done with Wrexham and they’ve got a women’s team as well. We’ve talked about having some friendly matches at some point,” she commented to Entertainment Tonight.
It should be remembered that Portman is a co-founder of Angel City, a team set up in 2020 and playing in the US National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL).
Other celebrities involved in the project include Christina Aguilera, Jennifer Garner, Eva Longoria, as well as former players Cobi Jones and Abby Wambach.
