Chris Pratt admitted on Friday that he woke up feeling ‘upset’ and ‘depressed’ after incurring backlash for a controversial Instagram post on Thursday November 4.
The 42-year-old Guardians of the Galaxy star had sparked outrage with an early birthday post to his wife Katherine Schwarzenegger, in which he thanked her for giving him a ‘healthy’ daughter which seemed to deride his son Jack with ex Anna Faris, who suffers from health issues.
‘I went to bed last night really kind of upset and depressed and I woke up feeling c****y and I didn’t want to work out,’ he began.
Pratt addressed the camera head on wearing his usual Americana-style apparel as he detailed his forlorn emotional state and credited Christian music and physical activity with getting him out of it.
‘…I knew though that if I put on my Christian music playlist and I got out of the woods and ran that I’d feel better but I just didn’t want to. I did it anyways and gosh was I right – it felt amazing.
‘I got out in the woods, got my blood pumping and God sat down right down next to me. I actually – I say this as I guy who, I don’t get emotional that often but I actually got emotional out in the woods…
‘I felt like there was another in the fire standing next to me,’ he said referring to a lyric in the Christian song he was listening to. ‘But that moment really captured me.’
‘So I just want to say all glory to God. And if you feel down today maybe get an exercise or maybe listen to some good worship music or get the word in because it really helped me this morning,’ he concluded.
The cause of Chris’ distress stemmed from his birthday tribute to Katherine, 31, (six weeks early) for which users slammed his caption as ‘ableist’ (among other things).

People took issue with the way he seemed to shade his first-born child Jack, nine, with Faris who was born prematurely, as he thanked Katherine for giving him a ‘gorgeous healthy daughter,’ Lyla Maria, 13 months.
Jack was born two months early weighing just three pounds, 12 ounces, and spent a month in the NICU and has cerebral hemorrhage (severe brain bleeding).
He went on to have a few hernia and eye surgeries, and also had ‘a little heart issue,’ according to Anna, and he still has problems with his vision and leg muscles.
Additionally the actor seemed to talk about the Gift of Forgiveness podcast host as a ‘possession’ as he called her his ‘greatest treasure’ next to a baseball card, which people called ‘sexist.’
Of the thousands of comments on Twitter one user wrote ‘All of this is cringe, but it’s especially gross considering his kid with Anna was born with health issues.’
‘So besides all the reasons we know Chris Pratt sucks, did you guys know he left Anna Faris because he wanted a large family and she had a complicated pregnancy with their first kid and didn’t want to go through that again? Yeah he’s a huge piece of s**t,’ claimed another.
Another seemed to shift the focus to Anna ‘who has enough love for beautiful Jack no matter what,’ adding that Pratt’s “healthy daughter” comment may have been ‘an immeasurable foot in mouth moment, or maybe he meant it how it came off.’
‘chris pratt shading his own f**king son with thanking his new wife giving him “a gorgeous healthy daughter” when his son has health issues is such a f**king low blow. i wish i had a father of the year award to hit him with. anna faris and jack doesn’t deserve this s**t,’ said an angered Twitter user.
Additionally he incurred scathing comments on his actual Instagram post, with many saying the whole caption had ‘red flags.’
‘Where does your other child fall in line after the baseball card?’ wrote one, while others doubled down ‘How’s your son doing?’ and asked if he ‘somehow forgot’ about Jack.
Others said the emphasis on ‘healthy child’ made it seem like Jack was ‘lesser’ and called his statements ‘insensitive’ and ‘cruel.’
Others asked if he was intentionally disregarding Jack because he was ‘bitter’ about his ‘health issues,’ while a fellow fellow special needs parent said she felt ‘triggered’ by his statements.
The Parks and Recreation actor was married to Faris from 2009 to 2018 and welcomed Jack in 2012.
The House Bunny actress had opened up about Jack’s ongoing health issues in her memoir Unqualified.
‘The pediatric neurosurgeon sat Chris and me down to tell us that Jack had some severe brain bleeding and there was a chance that he could be developmentally disabled,’ she wrote recalling his traumatic birth.
Chris met now-wife Katharine at church during the summer of 2018, and swiftly proposed to her six months later. They married in June 2019 and welcomed Lyla in August 2020.
Speaking to E!’s Daily Pop this past July he shared ‘I would love to have more [kids], as many as the man upstairs will provide. We’ll do it. I’ll probably have to talk to Katherine about that but my plan is, let’s go.’
