The Los Angeles Lakers had a double whammy during Game 5 vs. the Golden State Warriors. The Lakers not only lost the game, but Anthony Davis also left mid-game after a clash with Kevon Looney.
NBA reporter Chris Haynes was present at the game and reported that the 30-year-old had avoided a concussion.
“He was stumbling a little bit, you could tell his equilibrium was off,” Haynes said. “Then about five minutes later, they brought a wheelchair into the room, and from there, he was escorted to the room over all the way across the hall to the locker room. Sources have informed me that the early diagnosis is that Anthony Davis has avoided a concussion. He’s doing much better now. That is good news right now.”
Before getting escorted out of the game, Anthony Davis recorded 23 points, 9 rebounds, and 3 assists. Despite AD’s solid performance, the Lakers suffered a 106-121 defeat in Game 5.
The Purple and Gold still hold a 3-2 lead over the defending champion of the league, but they would want to close out the series in Game 6.
Darvin Ham Provides Crucial Update On Anthony Davis’ Injury
Taking a hit to the head is always a concerning injury for any player in the NBA. Anthony Davis experienced this firsthand as he exited the game in a wheelchair after Looney hit him on the head.
Darvin Ham addressed the media after the game. Ham revealed that Davis is already doing better, and there’s nothing else to reveal at the moment.
“Obviously, everybody saw that he took a shot to the head. I just checked in on him; he seems to be doing really good already. That’s the status of it right now.”
The Lakers are all set to play the Warriors on Friday. If Davis is indeed fine, a full day of rest should be more than enough for him to return.
