Taylor Swift fan says delay at Nashville concert created crowd conditions reminiscent of deadly Astroworld festival: ‘I’ve never been so scared for my life’

A concertgoer said that conditions during a weather delay at Taylor Swift’s show in Nashville this past Sunday were dangerously cramped, comparing it to the crowd surge at the Astroworld festival in Houston that left 10 people dead in October of 2021.

Swift played her third show on The Eras Tour in Music City this past Sunday at Nissan Stadium, where fans were told to shelter-in-place for three hours amid a severe weather advisory in the area.

A woman named Andrea under the TikTok handle @fantastic__fiction said in a clip on the social media site that she felt ‘uncomfortable, unsafe and terrified’ amid the incident.

‘I love Taylor Swift with like all my heart – I’m one of her biggest fans,’ Andrea said, noting that she departed the arena about two-thirds into the concert.

Andrea said that she had VIP seats to the show, adding that ‘everyone who was in the lower bowl and floor seats all had to go up underneath the stadium seats where the concessions are and shelter in place until it bypassed.’

Andrea said that ‘at first, it was a little crowded, but it was fine,’ as concertgoers ‘did have some room,’ but eventually were ‘standing shoulder-to-shoulder with nowhere to go.’

Andrea said that at her height of five feet, ‘everyone was towering over’ her and ‘it got really tight in there.’

She continued: ‘I literally thought it was going to be, like, another Travis Scott fatality – I’ve never been so scared for my life.

‘I couldn’t leave, I couldn’t move – there was nowhere to go.’

Andrea said that security guards at the venue behaved aggressively while paramedics were trying to make their way through the crowd as ‘multiple people [were] dropping left and right and fainting.’

Andrea said that ‘when it was finally showtime, chaos erupted on the floor’ – as she was ‘literally in tears and couldn’t enjoy the show’ – and her partner nearly got dragged under the masses ‘because of the crowd surges.’

Andrea said that the continuation of inclement weather conditions led her to depart the venue, not wanting to risk being involved in further dangerous situations.

‘When lightning started hitting … I had to get out of there because I was not going to be in another crowd situation,’ she said.
