Erling Haaland’s dad Alfie has spoken out for the first time since footage emerged of the former Leeds and Nottingham Forest man being escorted from his seat during Real Madrid vs Manchester City
Erling Haaland’s dad has broken his silence after being escorted out of a VIP box at the Bernabeu during Manchester City’s match against Real Madrid.
Footage emerged late on Tuesday night of the City striker’s dad, Alfie, interacting with home fans inside the stadium before security personnel moved him away from his seat. It was claimed that the former Leeds, Forest and Man City man was removed for “insulting and throwing food at the people of Madrid.”
Haaland snr. has now taken to Twitter to explain his actions, writing: “RM was not happy we were celebrating KDB goal. Other than than that we had to move because RM fans not happy with 1-1.”
The 50-year-old appeared to take the ejection well during the clip, despite initially getting involved in a heated conversation with a person in a Real Madrid shirt. Home supporters could be heard shouting “adios” as Alfie then waved and cupped his ears as stadium security staff arrived in the box.

City fans responded to Haaland’s explanation with plenty of approving comments. One wrote: “Legend forever.” While someone else said: “What a f***ing legend.”
A third person commented: “King.” As another user added: “You are the best.”
Although Haaland’s dad attracted headlines off the pitch, his son couldn’t make headlines on it as City were held to a hard-fought 1-1 draw at the Bernabeu.
Vinicius opened the scoring for the hosts with a rocket in the first half before Kevin De Bruyne replied in kind with a missile of his own from outside the box midway through the second half.
That was how it stayed as the two sides cancelled each other out, with it now all to play for in the return leg of their Champions League semi-final at the Etihad next Tuesday.
