The DCU is looking for its new Superman, and the co-CEOs have reportedly shortlisted their top contenders, which is allegedly led by David Corenswet. After taking over as the co-CEO of DC Studios with Peter Safran last year, James Gunn announced his plans to reboot the DC Universe. While he shared that some of the characters from Zack Snyder’s DCEU would continue to feature in the upcoming projects, others will have to say goodbye for good. One of these characters also included the fan-favorite Superman, portrayed by Henry Cavill.
He was last seen in Dwayne Johnson’s 2022 film Black Adam, leading fans to hope that he could make his return under Gunn’s DCU. However, the director had different plans. As the studio and the filmmakers move ahead with their plans, fans are waiting with bated breath to know who would be the next Superman. And the Pearl actor is reportedly the frontrunner in taking the lead in Superman: Legacy.
Who is David Corenswet- The Potential Frontrunner to be the Next Superman
Although David Corenswet is not a household name, the actor is known for starring in several Television series and a number of movies as well. He was recently seen alongside Mia Goth in the 2022 horror slasher film Pearl. After featuring in a number of short films and TV series, he made his big-screen debut with the 2018 film Affairs of State alongside Mimi Rogers.

He has also been featured in several Netflix projects. He appeared in one of the episodes of the popular Netflix series House of Cards. Corenswet has worked with the American Horror Story co-creator Ryan Murphy on Netflix shows, including The Politician and Hollywood. He also served as an executive producer for the latter.
Corenswet also starred alongside the Riverdale star Lili Reinhart in the 2022 Netflix film, Look Both Ways, in which he portrays the love interest of Reinhart’s character. Apart from acting, the Pearl actor also worked on the screenplay of the short film Following Chase. Fans believe that the actor has everything that James Gunn is looking for in the next Superman.

James Gunn Reportedly Preparing For Screen Tests
According to The Hollywood Reporter, DC Studios is all set to look for its new Superman and is expected to soon advance to screentests, which can take place after Memorial Day or early June. Sources also revealed that David Corenswet is among the top contenders in the race to be the next Superman.

Apart from Corenswet, Jacob Elordi, Tom Brittney, and Andrew Richardson are also on the list for the role of Clark Kent, aka Superman. Emma Mackey, Rachel Brosnahan, Phoebe Dynevor, and Samara Weaving are among the actresses shortlisted for the role of Lois Lane in Superman: Legacy.
Reports also suggested that Brosnahan gave an amazing audition. However, her age is a conflicting factor as the director is looking for a younger actress for the role of Lois Lane. The X-Men actor Nicholas Hoult is allegedly being looked on the be the evil genius Lex Luthor.
