Fast X is as the title suggests, the tenth installment of the Fast & Furious franchise. One of the most successful franchises in cinematic history as it has grossed over $6.6 billion worldwide. It started out as a niche racing car franchise but then turned into a Hollywood cash grab. Vin Diesel is the face of the franchise and as the franchise grew bigger and bigger as the time went by it added more stars like Jason Statham, John Cena, Paul Walker and Dwayne Johnson. While everyone gelled well with each other, the Rock and Diesel didn’t get along. While the details of the feud are not revealed but it was big enough that both the stars never starred together ever again. Dwayne Johnson starred in a spin-off of the Fast franchise- Hobbs & Shaw but never in the main movies of the franchise. Well, that changes today as he has returned in Fast X.
Fast X: How Is Dwayne Johnson Back?
The Wrap has exclusively learned that Dwayne Johnson has returned to the main timeline of the Fast and Furious franchise after almost six years. The Black Adam star will make an appearance in the post-credits sequence for the upcoming “Fast X”. This news is extremely shocking as Johnson’s return is after a six year long public squabble with Diesel. In November 2021, Vin Diesel took to Instagram where he practically begged Dwayne Johnson to return to the Fast & Furious franchise (main timeline).
A month after Diesel’s public plea, Johnson commented on his potential return to CNN, “I told [Diesel] directly that I would not be returning to the franchise. I was firm yet cordial with my words and said that I would always be supportive of the cast and always root for the franchise to be successful, but that there was no chance I would return. Vin’s recent public post was an example of his manipulation. I didn’t like that he brought up his children in the post, as well as Paul Walker’s death. Leave them out of it. We had spoken months ago about this and came to a clear understanding.”
I don’t know what changed for the actor. Despite such strong claims, he has returned to the franchise after all. This move maybe after his terrible experience on Black Adam with Warner Bros. where the lost on a big franchise. This might be his attempt to be part of another. Also, I think everyone mutually agrees that the Rock being in a Fast & Furious movie is beneficiary business wise. So, Diesel and Johnson shook hands for the better.
The film stars Vin Diesel, Jason Momoa, Brie Larson, Michelle Rodriguez, Sung Kang, Tyrese Gibson, Jason Statham, Charlize Theron, John Cena, Rita Moreno, Jordana Brewster, Scott Eastwood, Ludacris, Nathalie Emmanuel, Cardi B, Helen Mirren, Kurt Russell and so on.
