Taken by surprise: Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson and his Jungle Cruise co-star Emily Blunt were left shocked when he was asked what was ‘wrong’ with his abs during a fun interview
Dwayne and the 38-year-old British actress took part in a Q & A segment for Wired, in which they answered ‘The Web’s Most Searched Questions’ about each other.
Emily’s jaw dropped when she read one of the prompts printed on a whiteboard as she asked: ‘What is the deal with The Rock’s…flabby tummy?’
The question, which actually read, ‘What’s wrong with The Rock’s abs?’ seemed to surprise the pair who both burst out laughing.
Funny: Emily, 38, who read the prompts printed on a whiteboard, asked, ‘What is the deal with The Rock’s…flabby tummy?’

‘There’s nothing wrong with them,’ The Rock (seen shirtless in an Instagram post) responded. ‘Here’s the thing. I think because on Instagram these fitness models have these incredible six, eight, 12, 24-pack stomachs…’
‘That’s so f*****d up!’ Dwayne exclaimed. Emily agreed, saying, ‘That is f*****d up! Who wrote that? What’s wrong with them?’
‘There’s nothing wrong with them,’ The Rock responded. ‘Here’s the thing. I think because on Instagram these fitness models have these incredible six, eight, 12, 24-pack stomachs…’
Blunt interjected, ‘You don’t have a six-pack?’
‘No, I’ve got a five-and-a-half pack, sometimes a four-and-a-half-pack,’ he said.
‘The problem was, which a lot of people don’t know, in a wrestling match, I tore the top of my quad off my pelvis. It went bang in a wrestling match’: Dwayne explained, as he is seen at Wrestlemania XXVIII in Miami back in April 2012
Johnson continued, ‘The problem was, which a lot of people don’t know, in a wrestling match, I tore the top of my quad off my pelvis. It went bang in a wrestling match.’
He explained, ‘That caused a chain reaction and it tore my abdomen wall. So then I had to do a triple hernia emergency surgery of a tear, a tear and a tear.’
‘Now they looked pretty messed up,’ Emily said, to which Dwayne replied, ‘Yeah, so, they’re not, like, perfect abs.’
Turning to the camera, The Quiet Place star said, ‘You know what, it’s not his fault guys.’
Putting him on the spot: Emily asked with surprise, ‘You don’t have a six-pack?’
‘These f***ing a**holes who are Googling what’s wrong with The Rock’s abs?’ Johnson said as he laughed. He went to rehash the incident, adding, ‘And the pain I went through.’ Emily told him that he was going to Google it now.
‘I got to fix that sh*t,’ he said. ‘I’m going to Google, what did The Rock overcome?’
Emily turned to the camera and said, ‘You have freaked him out. You have freaked him out,’ before addressing Dwayne. ‘That’s going to keep you up at night.’
Dwayne’s injury occurred in 2013 when he faced off against John Cena at Wrestlemania 29’s WWE Championship. After falling, he tore both his rectus tendon and adductor muscle but declined surgery after seeing a doctor. A couple of days later, he went in for a checkup and his doctor noticed that he had a hernia.
Outraged: At the end of the segment. Emily turned to the camera and said, ‘You have freaked him out. You have freaked him out,’ before addressing Dwayne. ‘That’s going to keep you up at night’
Johnson told The Hollywood Reporter, ‘I came in for a checkup and pulled my pants down, and the doctor goes, ‘Oh! That’s a hernia.’
‘Your abdominal wall gets weak and your organs push through. The doctor said, “You need to lie down,” and slowly starts to push my intestines back in my stomach. He said, “I would really recommend surgery.” ‘
At the time, Dwayne was supposed to begin shooting the movie Hercules in two weeks. Due to his surgery, production on the 2014 film was delayed by a month at the cost of $2 million.
