The actor opened up about kicking off his then-new journey as an actor due to a specific reason. In order to get a long-lasting career, he had to go through several lengths, which included temporarily disconnecting from what he liked the most.

The 51-year-old actor, Dwayne Johnson in a recent interview on the Pivot Podcast shared his thoughts on venturing into the Hollywood industry by leaving a successful wrestling career. The actor mentioned that his desire for a long-lasting career affected his decision to pursue acting leaving the industry that titled him, The Rock.
“When I got out of wrestling, I transitioned into Hollywood, and I wanted to have a career that hopefully had some longevity to it and I wanted to be good.”
However, the new transition was not easy for him as the actor further mentioned the shortcomings that came along with his The Rock title. He opened up about how he was suggested to leave behind his wrestling roots to fully delve into the acting industry. He was even told not to mention pro wrestling at all.
“They wanted me to stop talking about pro wrestling and The Rock.”
He continued to spiral around the same environment for a while before eventually realizing what wrestling meant to him.

He had plans to explore the acting industry to fully grow his long-lasting career. Given that he dedicated a majority of his life to wrestling, sudden suggestions of altering his muscular physique, abandoning the gym, or worse, don’t call himself The Rock, at all! The sudden change affected him a lot.
“All this sh*t that at that time, if you don’t know any better and you’re trying to stay focused on the North Star, you buy into it because you’re trusting the people who are around you.”
While he initially separated himself from his first profession for a few years, he realized to accept and embrace his true self.
“I said, ‘I can’t do this anymore. I gotta be me. I love wrestling, it’s my life. If I wanna call myself The Rock, I’m gonna call myself the motherf**king Rock …’ Fired everybody, hired a brand new team … And at least if I fail, then I fail being myself.”
Due to his bold steps to take things into his hand, he successfully established himself in the industry.
