Mikal Bridges was involved in one of the biggest trades of the 2022-23 NBA season when he was shipped to the Brooklyn Nets in the move that landed Kevin Durant in Phoenix.
Even though the player admitted he would have made this trade without thinking twice, one NBA scout claims that he’s pissed about how his tenure with Phoenix ended.
“Between the draft and getting traded to Brooklyn, a lot of guys got more publicity than he did. Mikal might be a skinny dude with a big smile, but he’s also from Philly. Nobody holds a grudge quite like a Philly guy,” the scout told Heavy.

“Mikal’s been waiting to unleash how pissed he’s been for being traded from a contending team (Phoenix). Even though he said he knew why they traded him, and he would’ve traded himself for Durant too, it doesn’t change the fact that he could be pissed off about it. He’s still pissed off about the Philly trade, which he’s openly said he’s still pissed at.”
Bridges was a solid role player in Phoenix, but playing under the shadow of Devin Booker and Chris Paul held him back. Leaving Phoenix appeared to be the best move for him and time proved that right.
His exit wasn’t easy, as even the former head coach Monty Williams admitted to crying when Bridges was traded away.

However, things are going well for Mikal, who is now on the Nets, set to help this team compete in the NBA in the future. In his first half of a season in Brooklyn, he posted interesting numbers, making it clear he’s set to lead this project with other interesting players like Spencer Dinwiddie and Cam Thomas.
As for KD, he helped the Suns make it to the NBA Playoffs, beating the Los Angeles Clippers in the first round of the postseason but ultimately losing to the Denver Nuggets in the West semis.
