Animals from the wild frequently pass by Jennifer Rutter’s London house.
While others may get scared if a wild animal suddenly shows up to your doorstep uninvited, for Jennifer it’s not an issue at all because she actually enjoys seeing them pass by her bay window.
Since February, Jennifer has been the frequent host to a neighborhood fox. The fox is not anyone’s pet but it enjoys hanging out in their street.
Jennifer’s garden is its favorite spot. The friendly fox loves her garden so much and it chose the garden as a prime location to warm up under the sun.
The fox just sits there, on Jennifer’s window ledge and relaxes until it’s time to move or probably visit another house. Nobody considers the fox as a threat or a nuisance, as a matter of fact even the kids in the neighborhood look out of their windows to spot the sneaky little fox.
Jennifer doesn’t mind it one bit that the fox seemed to favor her garden. According to her, the fox is mild mannered and polite.
It has also learned how to co-exist with humans in a populated borough. The fox actually moves out of the way to let people walk on the pavement!
The fox has also brought Jennifer a lot of presents ever since it inhabited her garden.
So far she has received chicken drumsticks, toy car, a sausage, a bag of moldy limes, and the fox’s favorite bread.

The first interaction
As far as Jennifer knows, no one has actually made contact with this fox. That is until Jennifer’s cat, Dodo, decided to say hi to their frequent visitor.
Dodo and Jennifer were just sitting in her home office when she noticed the fox pass by her window to do its daily sun bathing routine. Jennifer pointed the fox to Dodo and the tiny, little kitten jumped up from Jennifer’s knee and immediately went to the window to say hi to the fox.
She was so moved by this moment between Dodo and the fox that Jennifer started to record. Dodo was pawing at the window as if to wave to the fox and wild animal followed suit.
They were observing and mimicking each other’s movements. It was adorable!
The fox moved along the ledge and Dodo followed along until the fox decided to get out of the garden. The whole time, Dodo was standing up watching her new friend leave.
There are an estimated 10,000 urban foxes living in London today. They have learned to adapt and co-exist with humans. So, it’s not uncommon to see a fox walking around your neighborhood if you live in the city.
The friendly fox that lives in Jennifer’s neighborhood is just one of the many foxes that roam the area. What makes him special in his friendship with Jennifer and Dodo.
Dodo is waiting for the next time the fox decides to visit her and Jennifer. If the fox brings them another present, Dodo will show him all of her toys and hope to play with the kind fox a little longer.
