Luka Doncic is an elite offensive player, and there is no doubt that this was on display against the New York Knicks today.
Luka Doncic put up 60 points, 21 rebounds, and 10 assists, and led the Dallas Mavericks to a comeback win. This is obviously one of the best individual performances that we have ever seen.
We have seen a number of NBA fans get hyped over this performance from Luka Doncic, but it is clear that he impressed his peers as well with his night. A lot of NBA stars including Kevin Durant and DeMar DeRozan had huge praise for Luka Doncic following this evening.
There is no doubt that Luka Doncic wowed even NBA players with what he did, and it is clear that he is a special player. It is highly unlikely that we’ll see something like this anytime soon, as 60-point triple-doubles do not come often at all.
The Dallas Mavericks Need To Make A Trade
It is definitely good to see that Luka Doncic is a superstar who can carry the offensive load for a team every night. However, it is unfair to ask him to put up a 60-point triple-double every evening just to get an overtime win. The Dallas Mavericks need to give him some support, and perhaps that can be achieved by making a trade.
It was previously reported that the Dallas Mavericks are among the teams that are interested in acquiring Bojan Bogdanovic. He would definitely be a good fit with the team, and his off-ball game would make him a perfect complement for Luka Doncic.
Bogdanovic’s strong play has led numerous playoff-caliber teams around the league to express interest in trading for him, including the Los Angeles Lakers, Miami Heat, Dallas Mavericks, and Atlanta Hawks, among several others, league sources told HoopsHype. Thus far, Detroit has been unwilling to engage in trade talks for the 33-year-old forward. Rival executives, however, are hopeful that stance changes closer to the deadline if Detroit continues to remain in the cellar of the East, with Cade Cunningham expected to miss the rest of the season.
We will see if the Dallas Mavericks do follow up and get Bojan Bogdanovic prior to this season’s trade deadline. They have some draft assets they could trade, and a deal wouldn’t necessarily be hard to construct.
With that being said, the key for the Dallas Mavericks is to simply get Luka Doncic some help, whether it involves trading for Bojan Bogdanovic or otherwise. Players like him are generational, and it is imperative that they maximize him while he is still in his prime.
