Manchester United will have to table a ‘crazy bid’ if they want to lure Ajax star Mohammed Kudus to Old Trafford next month, transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has told GiveMeSport.
Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag will be handed an opportunity to bolster his squad when the winter window opens for business at the turn of the year.
Man United transfer news – Mohammed Kudus
According to The Athletic, ten Hag is an admirer of Kudus’ skill and dynamism, which has resulted in him working his way onto Manchester United’s radar.
The report suggests adding a forward to the squad is a priority for the Red Devils’ chief as the opening of the January transfer window draws closer, while a number of new analysts have been employed to identify potential arrivals.
Kudus is eager to leave Ajax during the early stages of 2023 and it is understood that he will not be offloaded for less than £35million, while reliable journalist Dean Jones recently told GiveMeSport that Chelsea are not leading the race to reach an agreement.
But a move to Merseyside could be on the cards as Liverpool have joined the race for the 22-year-old’s signature and Everton’s interest has refused to go away following their failed pursuit a matter of months ago.
Kudus came close to joining the Toffees during the closing stages of the summer transfer window, but he ended up remaining with Ajax.
What has Fabrizio Romano said about Kudus?
Romano has doubts over whether Ajax will entertain selling another of their prised assets to Manchester United after a number of key individuals have headed in that direction in recent months.
Since ten Hag swapped the Amsterdam giants for Old Trafford, Lisandro Martinez and Antony have also made the same move.
As a result, the respected journalist believes Manchester United will have to pay over-the-odds if they want to complete another raid of the Dutch side.
Romano told GiveMeSport: “I’m not sure Ajax will be prepared to sell one more top player in January, unless they receive a crazy bid. It’s about the budget.”
Would Kudus be a good signing for Man United?
Kudus has enjoyed a stunning first half of the season, scoring 10 goals and registering a further two assists in 21 Ajax appearances, according to Transfermarkt.
He has found the back of the net every 105 minutes in the Eredivisie, which highlights his prowess in the final third of the pitch, while he also showcased his credentials at the World Cup.
Having got his name on the scoresheet twice in Qatar, Kudus was handed the highest rating – 7.53 – in the Ghana squad by WhoScored.
It is clear that ten Hag is a fan of the attacking midfielder as he previously claimed he has ‘incredible potential’, having managed him at Ajax.
Kudus made 42 appearances under the now-Manchester United chief and an Old Trafford reunion could be exciting for all parties.
