Following Joe Rogan’s recent outburst when he disparaged The Rock on an episode of his podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience, Black Adam star Dwayne Johnson is being thrust into the spotlight more and more.
Even though Dwayne Johnson’s ability to persevere in the face of mounting pressure and unrelenting criticism has been demonstrated recently, the storm clouds have not completely dissipated, and it appears that more podcast hosts are offering their own theories as to why there has suddenly been a rise in public hostility toward Johnson.
If there is one thing that a public figure has never been accused of, it is trying to please everyone. The appearance of Dwayne Johnson, who has been a fairly common sight since since the campaign to promote DC’s October 2022 movie, Black Adam, got underway, didn’t turn out well for everyone concerned.
The film was competently well-executed and had the potential to do well, but the former professional wrestler was increasingly under fire because of his marketing tactics, which placed too much emphasis on Henry Cavill’s comeback and not enough on the JSA or the scope of the movie’s plot.
Now, however, the open-ended line of communication that has levied the public’s simmering gaze at The Rock has allowed several unhappy contenders to shoot their shot at the A-list actor while the iron is still hot.
The Rock Gets Called Out For Turning His Back on Friends
On the PBD Podcast, Patrick Bet-David elaborated on how The Rock’s actions in the recent past have caused some people to dislike his public approach. The podcast host claims:
“Here’s another thing that people don’t like about what The Rock’s done a couple times. I support the stuff that he does, I buy his shoes, I have his shirt, I’ve watched Black Adam… But, you know, it’s a feeling I got talking to our guest yesterday is that [The Rock] is so concerned about what everybody in their world will say…”
The podcast host’s remark was made in response to Rogan’s previous criticism of Dwayne Johnson for allegedly using steroids (“Don’t act like you are naturally that large”) and the subsequent online discussion on how much truth there is to Rogan’s assertion.
The Rock’s refusal to acknowledge or comment on the charges indicates that one group is clearly committed to believing the claims, but others have readily joined in to defend Johnson and his long record of success and well-deserved reputation.
