The bizarre alien-like sea creature was brought to the surface from deep within the depths of the Caribbean sea.
Fishermen who brought it ashore by accident while trying to reel in their more usual catch said it looked like some sort of hybrid, with scales like normal fish, but the two segmented feet and an almost perfect human nose above its mouth.
It was found in the harbour of Windward on the small island of Carrioacou, off Grenada.
One of the first islanders to see it said: “Everyone crowded around to look – nobody had ever seen anything like it.
“Quite a few people were pretty scared and thought it looked like something out of a sci-fi horror film.”
Fisherman Hope McLawrence, 74, who has fished the waters for 50 years, described feeling astounded as he found himself staring into the eyes of the creature when he found it among other fish in the nets.

He said: “I have never discovered anything like this before.
“The wings and tail looks extremely complicated.
“By the look of the creature it can’t swim but walks on the seabed.
“This has shocked me to a considerable extent since I never thought that a creature like this even existed, much less in the harbour of these shallow, friendly waters.
“This is like a mystery and breathes a chill with this discovery.”
