LeBron James is growing impatient with the Los Angeles Lakers’ lack of trade activity this year. Despite their current five-game winning streak, the Purple and Gold have had trouble winning games regularly this season. If they hope to contend this season for anything, something needs to be done.
Just when they started playing great basketball, Anthony Davis picked up another injury, and the team had to find their identity again without AD. They are back on track now, but again, the current roster isn’t enough to maintain this level or compete against the top teams in the Western Conference.
There have been rumors about a potential move for Kyrie Irving next summer, but that’s too long for LeBron, who wants to maximize his chances to win another title in LA, but the front office isn’t on the same page as him.

Following a big win against the Sacramento Kings, which wasn’t free of controversy, the King talked with Sam Amick of The Athletic and made some bold declarations about the team’s roster construction and the moves, or lack thereof, by the front office.
LeBron admits he’s focused on playing, and he’s not trying to push anybody to make something for him, but he makes it clear that his patience is running out and he wants to see some changes on the team.
But how’s your patience level? Is that aspect (of this situation) tugging at you?
They’re doing what they feel is best for the franchise.
How do you feel about that?
I’m doing what’s best for my guys in the locker room. That’s all I can worry about. I’ll let y’all…
A brief pause as he walks away, and one final, unmistakable comment that was shouted from nearly 20 feet away…
Y’all know what the f— should be happening. I don’t need to talk.
The Lakers are in a big predicament right now. They have two future first-round picks that look very appealing to many teams around the league, but the Purple and Gold are thinking about their future, which won’t include 38-year-old LeBron James. Meanwhile, the King wants to get the best opportunity to compete for a title, which is why he wants to see some trades happening.
In recent days, they were once again linked with Zach LaVine, a player that could be great for them. Some say Russell Westbrook is the perfect player to send to the Chicago Bulls, but it’s unclear if the Lakers will make that move.
Time will tell how this situation develops, but it’s pretty clear that LeBron is upset, and he wants to see something different. He’s playing at a great level right now, but James would like to give these 30+ performances in the playoffs instead of in January while trying to take the Lakers to the .500 mark. Following their win against the Kings, their record is 19-21, which is still good considering their tumultuous season.
