HBO might still divert from George R.R. Martin’s books in some things… but it’s likely that the most traumatic moments will still be there to break your heart once again.
If you read Fire And Blood by George R.R. Martin, then HBO’s House of the Dragon is unlikely to ever surprise you, because the outcome of the Dance of the Dragons is pretty much obvious. However, it is no consolation for fans who know exactly what happens — so if you are ready for some book spoilers for season 2, we have warned you.
Aside from the already notorious scenes like Blood and Cheese and the death of Rhaenys, there is a big fight many fans have been bracing themselves for in season 1: the face-off between Daemon and Aemond.
While it sounds epic and surely dramatic, as the two characters are arguably the biggest fan favorites, the outcome of the battle might as well have you boycotting season 2. According to the books, neither of the two will survive the duel.
Jon Snow’s Epic Quote Now More Relevant Than Ever in 2023
Daemon and Caraxes vs. Aemond and Vhagar? Sounds more like “everybody dies”, which is essentially what happens in Fire And Blood. Despite the chance that HBO will choose to change some plotlines in season 2, it’s unlikely they will let Daemon or Aemond to survive, as both fall victims to the Dance of the Dragons.
If you are ready to watch your favs die horribly… then you might get really hyped.
“Aemond fans and Daemon fans will be united in hype. Say what you will about Aemond, but getting a Valyrian sword through the eye after a dragon duel is a pretty metal way to die,” Redditor NatalieIsFreezing noted.
Fans (well, those of them who are ready) have their hopes up for the battle as they are excited to have a dragon fight where the outcome is not as obvious as it was in the case of Aemond and Lucerys. While epic and dramatic, that particular scene left few people intrigued, as Lucerys and Arrax did not stand a chance against Aemond and Vhagar.
House of the Dragon season 2 is set to start filming in March 2023, with the premiere date yet to be scheduled by HBO.
