Alejandro Garnacho is ready to explode at Manchester United believes Erik ten Hag.
Erik ten Hag says Alejandro Garnacho can take the Premier League by storm now he has got his head around what it takes to be a Manchester United player. The Argentinian youngster, 18, played a big part in United’s come-from-behind victory over champions City in the Manchester derby.
Garnacho came on to tee up Marcus Rashford’s winner. And the United manager insists that having ironed out some initial teething problems following his move from Atletico Madrid, Garnacho could now be ready to set the top-flight alight.
“He has improved a lot in attitude and all-round play and he has a skill that I don’t see many players in the Premier League having – he beats players one on one,” said Ten Hag. “You now see how he’s acting as a team player and with his individual skills that can make the difference.
“For him, it’s to keep going in the process because it’s not done. But there is a lot to come.” Garnacho joined United’s academy from Atletico in October 2020 when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was manager and helped them win the FA Youth Cup in May earlier this year, scoring twice in the final.

Having been brought into the first-team group for training last season by interim boss Ralf Rangnick, the naturally shy Garnacho found adapting to the pressures of the first team a struggle. Garnacho was one of several academy players taken on the pre-season tour of Bangkok and Australia.
But he blotted his copybook a touch when late for two meetings on the tour earning a reprimand from Ten Hag and Bruno Fernandes. It also cost him a place in any of the tour line-ups.
Since receiving his rap on the knuckles and also since his family have joined him in Manchester his attitude has been spot on according to the club. The forward has impressed the strength and conditioning team with his work in the gym and on his diet and he has improved his English.

His reward was a first start under Ten Hag in the Europa League against Sheriff Tiraspol in October and then a league debut against Aston Villa in November. Garnacho has featured in United’s last six Premier League games, scoring a late winner against Fulham prior to the World Cup and providing assists against both Bournemouth and City.
“He’s learnt in the last months about how to play in a team, how to live, how to do the right things in the week, how to have the right attitude on the training ground,” said Ten Hag.“There is a lot of room for improvement with him but he can help, he can contribute on the highest level already and I’m really happy.”
