Manchester City striker Erling Haaland is statistically the best-value attacking signing in the Premier League so far this season.
The Norwegian frontman has made a scintillating start to life in England, with the 22-year-old registering 27 goals and three assists in 24 appearances in all competitions. He has also scored three hat-tricks in the Premier League – one of which came in the derby win over Manchester United in October.
Haaland arrived at the Etihad having impressed for Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga, and the majority of people were convinced that he would thrive in Pep Guardiola’s side. The Norway international is currently six goals in front of Tottenham Hotspur’s Harry Kane in the goalscoring charts, and became the first player to score 20 Premier League goals before the turn of the year
Several Premier League sides made attacking reinforcements in the summer transfer window, all of whom were desperate for a return on their investment. However, it is Haaland, who joined City for £52.8million, who has proved to be the best value forward signing – with his combined 24 goals and assists in the top-flight costing just £2.2m per goal or assist.
Gabriel Jesus, who left the Blues to join Arsenal for around £46m before the start of this season, is fourth in the rankings. The Brazilian forward has scored or assisted ten times, costing £4.6m at a time.
Meanwhile, Raheem Sterling, who also left City in the summer – joining Chelsea for £50m – has six goals or assists so far this term, at a cost of £8.2m each.
At the other end of the value table is Antony, who joined United for an eye-watering £83.6m in the summer. With only three goals or assists since arriving at Old Trafford, it means that each of his goal involvements has cost a staggering £27.9m.
