The Sacramento Kings are clearly one of the biggest surprises of the season. Even though they made a win-now trade for Domantas Sabonis at last season’s trade deadline, it is clear that not many expected them to be as good as they are this season.
It is clear that Domantas Sabonis has been instrumental in the Sacramento Kings’ success this season. He is currently putting up amazing numbers 18.9 PPG, 12.6 RPG, and 7.1 APG while shooting 38.0% from beyond the arc, and it is clear that the center is having a career season.
Recently, De’Aaron Fox has suggested that Domantas Sabonis should be in the MVP conversation if the Kings keep winning games. As of right now, the Sacramento Kings are the No. 4 seed in the Western Conference.
“If we keep winning games, there’s no doubt that [Domantas Sabonis] should definitely be in that [MVP] discussion. Easily.”
It remains to be seen if Domantas Sabonis will actually enter MVP talks in the future. There are a lot of talented candidates for the award this season, and it is clear that the competition will be brutal. With that being said, Domantas Sabonis is a talented player, and perhaps he will start playing at an even higher level later on in the season. De’Aaron Fox notably believes that Domantas Sabonis is a top-3 center in the league, and perhaps Sabonis will prove that prior to the conclusion of the year.
The Sacramento Kings Are On The Right Path
The Sacramento Kings are finally in a position to make the playoffs once again, and that is definitely good news for their fans. In fact, a previous report revealed that they are five games above .500 for the first time since 2006, and it is easy to see why they are one of the most exciting teams in the league.
“The Sacramento Kings are five games above .500 for the first time since 2006.
“After tonight’s win against the Rockets, the Kings (23-18) have five more wins than losses. The last time the franchise achieved this near-impossible feat was almost 17 years ago, back in April of 2006.
“Some previous close calls were when Sacramento started the ’14-’15 season with a 5-1 record, in the ’18-’19 season when they had a record of 30-26, and the 7 different times this season being 4 games above .500 and losing the next game.”
Hopefully, their success doesn’t evaporate, and we will see the Sacramento Kings break their playoff drought this season. They have the talent to get to the playoffs and two franchise cornerstones in Domantas Sabonis and De’Aaron Fox.
It remains to be seen how well the Sacramento Kings will do in the future. They are a piece or two away from legitimate contention, but it is clear that they’re still a fantastic team in the now.
